The beautiful Coral Princess served as our “home away from home” as we explored the Panama Canal via Fort Lauderdale Florida, Aruba, Cartagena Columbia, Puerto Amador Panama, Puntarenas Costa Rica, Huatulco Mexico, Acapulco Mexico, Cabo San Lucas Mexico, and finally disembarking at Los Angeles California.

There was much to learn on this adventure not the least of which was the magnificence of nature, as illustrated by this huge hump back whale surging out of the water (some of them were completely out of the water!) at Cabo San Lucas.

It is hard to believe that in the 21st century, there are people living in thatched roof homes and dependent on the good earth for their livelihood but such is the case for this tribe of Embera Indians residing in the jungles of Chagres some 70 miles from Panama City, Panama.

Their homes, built on stilts to protect against snakes, reminded me once again how fortunate we are in this country. We take far too much for granted! If it were not for our good luck to have been born in the U.S.A., we too could be warding off reptiles in the middle of a jungle.
