Zogby Poll: “Herman Cain has opened up a 20 percentage point lead among likely Republican primary voters in the race for the Presidential nomination, and also holds a narrow lead among all likely voters over President Barack Obama.
Cains share of the GOP primary has jumped 10 percentage points since Sept. 26 and is now at 38%. Mitt Romney is second with 18%, followed by both Rick Perry and Ron Paul, at 12% each.”

What do we know about Herman Cain?  Here are just a few bullet points gleaned from the “big cloud in the sky”:

  • Parents:  Father a janitor, barber and chauffeur. Mother a domestic worker
  • Grew up in Atlanta, Georgia
  • Graduated from Morehouse College with a degree in mathematics in 1967
  • Master’s degree in computer science from Purdue University in 1971
  • Worked as a computer systems analyst for the Coca-Cola Company
  • Regional vice president of Pillsbury’s Burger King division (assigned to lead a low performing region of 450 of their restaurants -within three years, it became the best performing region in the company)
  • President and CEO of Godfather’s Pizza (a company that was teetering on the edge of bankruptcy. In just 14 months, returned Godfather’s to profitability and he led his management team to a buyout of the company -)
  •  President of the National Restaurant Association
  •  Board of Directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City (subsequently elected their chairman)
  •  Radio Talk Show host, “The Herman Cain Show,” on Atlanta’s WSB 750 AM/ 95.5 FM
  • Married for 43 years, two children, three grandchildren, age 65
  • Author of the “9-9-9″  Tax Plan: replacing the current tax system with a 9 percent corporate tax, a 9 percent personal income tax and a 9 percent national sales tax.
